About

Marius Egeland Architects is an architecture & design studio based in Lillesand and established in January 2022. The studio was founded as Haarklau & Lindeberg Arkitekter in 1976 by Knut Haarklau and Jan Lindeberg. The firm changed its name to Haarklau, Lindeberg og Egeland in 2017, when Marius Egeland became partner.

Marius has a diploma (Master of Architecture) from NTNU in 2002. After graduating, he worked for 13 years in Arendal. Here he became one of the founding partners of A7 Architects, which was acquired by Rambøll in 2009. After 6 years in Rambøll, working with projects of various sizes, joining Haarklau and Lindeberg in June 2015, allowed him to pursue his enthusiasm for bespoke houses and holiday homes – creating crafted spaces, utilizing beautiful natural materials.

Marius Egeland Architects is a niche architecture practice specializing in unique modern houses and holiday homes. Marius Egeland’s highly experienced team of architects has been working for more than 20 years in the magical and bold Norwegian landscape. The firm is mainly working with commissions in Norway, but on occasion also in other countries.

Approach

Architecture should be exciting, not just satisfying. We make houses and holiday homes for enthusiasts.

The practice is committed to well-conceived and thoughtfully detailed architecture. We are driven by a relentless ambition to understand the spirit of the places, both urban and rural.

In our work we strive to enhance our sense of the surroundings, identity, relationships, and of the physical spaces we occupy. We believe it´s vital that characteristic landscape and elements are allowed to influence, form and inhabit the character of our projects.

We are a small office, but with a lot of passion for what we do. Being small means that we can offer personal service to our clients, and we take pride in the positive, lasting relationships we create. We love what we do, we’re good at it, and we deliver. As architecture goes, the personalized house is the most rewarding building we can work on. We love the direct connection between our clients and the houses we design for them. What we love even more, is transforming the way clients live, and enhancing the quality of their lives.

We love to work with our clients to create their dream homes. The relationship between architect and client is extremely important, and we place great significance on reporting and engaging on a personal level.
